We provide work experience in our office focussing on skills such as using the telephone, computer work, filing, photocopying, scanning, post duties and much more.

Action For Kids' students have secured work placements and paid employment in the following sectors:

  • Hospitality and catering - hotels, restaurants
  • Beauty - hairdressers
  • Legal - lawyers
  • Entertainment - theatres, cinemas
  • Charities and not-for-profits
  • Public sector - libraries, schools
  • Childcare - nurseries
  • Farming - farms

Bikes For Good Causes’ is a community bike shop that is partnered with Action For Kids to help students hone skills and ultimately gain paid employment.

It is the perfect stepping stone for young people to work on communication skills, engage with customers and be trained in a variety of areas including cash handling, bicycle maintenance and coffee making.

In the last year, Action For Kids’ students who worked at Bikes For Good Causes went on to: -

  • Paid roles at Wetherspoons, a cafe and office work at William Hill
  • Temporary paid work at the Post Office 
  • A traineeship in digital media at the BBC
  • An apprenticeship in theatre production
  • Work placements at Sainbury’s, Regus and a community cafe
  • Places at college studying catering
  • A volunteer role at a cafe
