At Action For Kids we believe mobility equipment is one of the great enablers for young people with disabilities. We provide young people up to the age of 26 with mobility equipment not available on the NHS. This equipment can be crucial in bringing opportunity, freedom, self-reliance and independence to the children and young people who use it.
Over the past 20 years, we have helped over 1,200 young people. We have supplied mobility aids from simple trikes to sophisticated powered wheelchairs. All of our equipment is provided on a permanent loan scheme so we cover the cost of maintaining and servicing the equipment. This unique funding method means that families and carers of young disabled people don't have to worry about the annual servicing , which can cost more than for a family car.
When a piece of equipment is no longer required, where possible, it is either adapted to be used by another child or is donated to a special needs school where more children with special needs can benefit from the equipment.
