Outreach service

Delivered in special and mainstream schools and FE Colleges

Our Outreach Service is delivered at a school or college's own premises for one hour a week with up to 12 students (aged 14-26 years old) for a total duration of 10-12 weeks.  The times and dates of its delivery are arranged to fit in with a school or college's schedule.

Our Outreach Service focuses on engaging young disabled students in a wide range of work related learning activities.  These may vary from basic asminstrative duties (e.g. mailshots, photocopying, faxing, filing, e-mailing and data entry) to more complex tasks such as planning a fundraising event (e.g. designing a business plan, calculating finances).  The range and variety of activities undertaken during any Outreach session is targeted at students' individual needs and abilities.

The Outreach sessions focus on developing:

  • Key skills (literacy, numeracy, problem solving, ICT skills)
  • Communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Social and life skills
  • Confidence and self esteem
  • A sense of independence

Many schools, colleges and parents find our work has a positive impact on the young people we engage with, boosting their self esteem.
