What could be more valuable than your time?
Stars of stage and screen pledge support as Daybreak launches DONATE A DAY initiative

SIMON COWELL, ROD STEWART, PIXIE LOTT and PAUL O'GRADY are among the stars that have pledged their support to Daybreak's Donate a Day initiative launching on Monday 23rd May 2011.

The fully interactive initiative will encourage viewers young and old to pledge their time to help Action For Kids.

There are many ways you could volunteer for Action For Kids

Volunteering with Action For Kids is a very rewarding, enjoyable experience and can offer the opportunity to develop communication and work skills, while lifting some of the barriers perceived about working with disabled people. Volunteers can play an important part in helping young people with disabilties to develop their skills and achieve new goals.

Our volunteering programme is extremely flexible. We welcome companies, groups and individuals, from assisting at one short session with students or taking part in a fundraising event, to making regular visits to us here each week. We appreciate that a volunteer's time is precious, and we are happy to arrange volunteer programmes and timetables to suit.

Volunteers with all different types of skills are valued. No formal training is required and volunteers will be supported by experienced Action For Kids staff. We encourage new volunteers to visit Action For Kids first to meet the young people we work with and overcome any concerns they may have about working with young people who are disabled or have learning difficulties.

There are four types of activities that you can take part in:

1. Raising funds for Action For Kids

2. Working directly with young people

3. Volunteering in the Action For Kids office

4. Corporate volunteering with Action For Kids

All volunteers working with our children and young people will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
