The 'Overseas Challenge' - dare you take it up?

Trekking in the Andes - helping a child like Charlie

Elaine, 52, thought her life lacked some excitement, until she went on an amazing adventure on behalf of Action For Kids

'I was desparate to do something worthwhile. The need to find adventure grew and grew until one day I discovered that it was possible to go on an organisaed trek for charity. I had no doubt when it came to choosing which charity: I knew the great work Action For Kids do for young disabled people and I have been extremely proud to be able to support them. Fundraising was a new challenge to me, but soon the pennies began to add up - altogether I raised nearly £3000'

'The trek was a wonderful experience. Along with many memories, it gave me the opportunity for a personal journey too. Sometimes it was very hard work, walking at high altitude and for eight hours a day. I shared the journey to Machu Pichu with 16 others, and we trekked along the narrow mountains together, many friendships were forged. The scenery was breathtaking and the air so clean and fresh. At night we camped high up in the mountains- it seemed that every corner or hilltop revealed something new'

'If anybody has the desire for a challenge then I encourage you to do this. With the added bonus of raising money for Action For Kids, there really is nothing to lose!'

And kids like Charlie who come out on top of the world!
