January 2007 Appeal

Ben's mum Janice explains why he needs the Levo Comfort II wheelchair so urgently:

‘The more Ben exercises the better - it's vital that he keeps working his muscles. The calipers forced him to stand in a vertical position, but now his muscles have tightened up too much to make that possible. From when he was first diagnosed I've helped him with his physio - but now he's too heavy and I just can't hold him up - he has to do the physio himself. He really needs the Levo wheelchair to help him.'

Amazingly Ben doesn't let DMD hold him back. He loves to play sports - especially Boccia, which is like lawn bowls and takes part in regular Boccia training to help him fulfill his life's dream of representing the UK in the 2012 Paralympics. The Levo Comfort II will mean Ben is also able to get out and about with his friends more often, reach kitchen surfaces to prepare food for himself and most importantly, look his friends and family in the eye when he speaks to them.

Sadly, there is no way his family can afford the £12,844 cost of the Levo Comfort II, which is why we hope you will consider sending a gift today. Donate now towards the cost of Ben's wheelchair so he can make the most of his future.
