Christmas 2006 Appeal

Christmas Picture

This Christmas we need your support to purchase Toby's ultimate Christmas gift - the customised Permobil Street wheelchair.

19 year old Toby has just completed an IT college course and is now eagerly looking for work. But Toby has Cerebral Palsy, which means he can't walk, has limited movement in his hands - and is completely dependent on a wheelchair to get around.

Toby really needs a new wheelchair that will allow him to attend job interviews, start a new job and carry out his plans for independent living as his current chair is totally inadequate. Toby explains,

"At the moment my chair has limited movement, is very uncomfortable as it has no suspension and has an awful battery life, so I can't go very far and have to rely on others to drive me around. Now I've completed college I'm ready to become independent, working and taking care of myself. I desperately need a chair, which can support my new lifestyle."

The Permobil Street wheelchair will be customised to Toby's needs. It is specifically designed for commuting and has special tilting and reclining mechanisms to properly support Toby's body and drain tension in his legs.

At £12,265 the Permobil Street wheelchair is financially out of Toby's reach but your donation, big or small will help us purchase this chair in time for Christmas.
