The Twelve Trikes of Christmas Appeal

I still remember writing a letter to Father Christmas asking him for a new bike. Luckily, my mum also saw the letter and on Christmas morning I was thrilled to see that little blue bike waiting for me by the fireplace!
I'd love to be able to give the same feeling to twelve very deserving children this year.

Ryan, 2, with mum

The children range just 2 to 11 years old, with varying special needs and disabilities. Two year old Ryan has a brain injury and cannot sit up on his own. His trike will help his muscles gradually strengthen and hopefully improve his ability to hold himself up.
Six year old Keely has Cerebral Palsy and extremely limited movement in her legs. Her trike will not only allow her to move about on her own, it will also gently reduce the pain in her muscles as she exercises and increases her flexibility and strength.

Each of the twelve children will gain something different from his or her new tricycle, depending on their individual disabilities. But all of them will enjoy being able to play with friends and siblings more easily. Imagine a little boy having to wait in his wheelchair for someone to push him, or watching from the sidelines as his friends cycle around on their bikes; and how a trike will change his life.

Physically the children - who all have very limited movement - will benefit from improved circulation, muscle strength, posture and hand eye co-ordination.

The trouble is that these trikes can cost ten times the amount of a standard bike. The bespoke seat, backrest, straps and headrest are essential for children like Ryan and Keely, but are also expensive (you can read more about them here).
The tricycles range in price from £425 to £1800 which for twelve children is a huge fundraising target, which is why I'm turning to committed supporters like you. Will you be able to help 12 faces light up this Christmas morning?

Keely, 6

You can read an adorable letter which little Keely has written to Father Christmas asking him for her trike. Hopefully we can all step in for Santa this year!
