London Marathon 2008 - Race Report
The day got off to a promising start with the sun shining on all the runners lining up for the 2008 Flora London Marathon. Meanwhile Action For Kids were setting up their supporter point opposite Somerset House at about 24.5 miles along the route, with their pom poms at the ready. Even the rain which poured down over London couldn't dampen our spirits.
It was the third biggest London Marathon since it began in 1981 with over 35,000 starting the race and over 34,000 completing the course. The participants were made up of all kinds of runners from the Wombles to the Maasai Warriors and of course our very own Action For Kids team.
By the time the AFK Team had crossed the line, they had already raised a fabulous £48,305.93! This will go to help provide mobility equipment; Work Related Learning Services and support to disabled children and young people.
