Young people with learning disabilities can sometimes feel ignored, or that their views are taken for granted.

At Action For Kids we work to help them develop the skills and confidence to speak up and advocate on their own behalf.
We employ a specialist Participation Development Co-Ordinator to work with young people.  And we have a variety of ways of involving them in what we do.  For example, we encourage some of our young people that have found paid work to tell others about their experiences.  We have a Young Person’s Forum which allows young people to express their views about the way we do things.
We also employ an Advocacy Manager who can help the young people directly with complex issues e.g. dealing with local authorities re: benefits etc.
